Eating disorders...

Today was the second time I addressed a group of youth on the topic of eating disorders. Group of 70 girls-Catholic School-gr.5-8. It's crazy how you can hand pick the people in the goup that struggle. They are never the ones asking questions, even though you want them to be.

One of the questions asked was a good one...

"If so many girls have this problem, why isnt society doing something about it?" (This came from a girl in gr. 8 that stated she was overweight, and did not seem to be overweight at all.)

Spoke from both a personal point and a more "clinical" point. It still blows my mind that kids listen to experience... I just hope that something will come from the words I spoke, the pictures that were shown, and the lies that were revealed.

I love speaking about past experience to youth, because it is like putting the finger up to "the bad guy" and giving God the praise where praise is due. It was the first time (to a class) I was able to speak about my identity being based in God stuff, and not in stuff that everyday life catches me on at times. Just resting in the security of knowing truth, it's a nice change...
