One last thing
I sometimes get lost in all of that Postmodern talk stuff that has to do with the sociological shift that the church...wau wau wau wau... while other christian youth workers get nervouse about the lack of absolutes and so on I get excited, because there is more of an openess than ever. Also I think this generation is crazy cool... and also more well informed and ready to risk... (always bad and good to everything) Bottom line, I think they are black or white... I would much have a youth yelling at me and telling me off to my face, then pretending, then behind my back doing the same.
A few more quotes then I will quit... some of this is an affirmation of shift going on at the Standard Church.
When you first came to Christ, whatever your experience, there was a reason why you opened your heart to him. Yes he was seeking you first, but there was somethingbuilt into your human fabric that caused you to respond. You were looking for warmth. You were looking for love. You were looking for fulfillment. You were looking for relationship. You were looking for identity beyond your existence. You were not looking for a program. You were not looking for a program. You were not looking for an institution. You were not looking for a somewhere but a someone."
(How much does that describe Gen X and Y?)
